Elderly Brothers, The (men behaving baldly)

Review: Four local musicians, CARVEY, Doug (guitar), BONE, Graham (guitar), Nick (guitar), and SKIVINGTON, Rob (guitar and banjo). Sometimes they are joined by a drummer, Graham's son Alex. They play covers of tracks by Beatles, Rod Stewart, Wings and Dueling bangos from the film Deliverance. It is with deep sadness that I have to report that Rob Skivington passed away in Dec 2007, and will be greatly missed, by family and friends, as well as many of the local musicians, who were privileged to have known him. More recently both Graham and Nick have left and been replaced.

Enrico Tomasso with Storeyville

Review: Some of London's finest jazzers get together. Enrico Tomasso (Trumpet/Flugelhorn?), Malcolm Harrison (guitar), Chris Lowe (Trombone) and Richard White (Bass Saxophone).
Enrico Tomasso, was exposed to the best of jazz from when he was born and started playing trumpet at the age of five. His father, jazz clarinettist Ernie Tomasso, nurtured and encouraged the inherent talent and gave him every opportunity to hear and meet the jazz greats; Benny Goodman, Oscar Peterson, Buddy Rich, Dizzy Gillespie, Bobby Hacket, Roy Eldridge, Billy Butterfield, Maynard Ferguson, Count Basie and Duke Ellington's bands and many others. His biggest inspiration was Louis Armstrong. In June 1968 Louis Armstrong stepped off a plane at Leeds Airport, and a seven year old Enrico Tomasso was waiting on the tarmac. He launched into Basin Street Blues; Louis stopped, listened, and smiled - and, as the last note died, applauded. Then he said: 'That little shaver - he's given me the greatest thrill I ever had.'He went on to say: 'I've not seen so much talent anywhere, A boy of seven blow-that much horn. It's fantastic. I didn't even start till I was 13.' Louis took Enrico into the arrival lounge and told him: Baby, you're good. You're making the sound we need, spend 15 minutes every day with that horn and you'll be the greatest.' (http://www.robinwoodproductions.co.uk/cotton.html)
